When driving in stop-start or slow moving traffic, there are 2 good rules of thumb which will keep you safe:
Make sure you can always see the bottom of the tyres of the vehicle in front of you and on dual carriageways / motorways you should never be closer than 2 seconds from the vehicle in front.
There are 5 very good reasons for these guides:
i/ If you can see the bottom of the vehicle in front’s tyres, it means you can steer around that vehicle in the event it didn’t move off again.
