When the Hazard Perception Test was first introduced some of the best Approved Driving Instructor (ADIs) initially struggled with it. After much discussion and trial & error, the consensus was reached that the experienced ADIs were actually anticipating the hazards at the split seconds they were appearing on screen. These experienced driving instructors were actually clicking on the hazards TOO FAST and hence failing the test! But I digress…
The point I am trying to make is that looking far enough ahead allows you to see hazards developing well in advance of drivers who haven’t yet developed this discipline.
